The Faculty of Law at the Arab Open University (AOU) welcomes you to its website to learn more about the Faculty of Law, which launched its first steps at the end of 2018, making it the newest Faculty at the university.
The Arab Open University was established to be a leading Arab university in the field of developing and disseminating knowledge and building expertise following international quality standards without temporal or spatial barriers to contribute to the preparation of human resources required by sustainable development and building a science and knowledge society in the Arab countries. By graduating a generation of qualified and competent young people capable of assuming responsibility in various fields, the Faculty of Law is one of the university's Faculties that always works to fulfil the university's mission regarding the science of law, by providing the labour market with qualified legal competencies characterised by rationality and wisdom, bearing in mind the need to work towards achieving legal justice.
The most prominent feature of our curriculum is that it is mainly concerned with developing research capabilities and enhancing the professional skills of students and graduates by focusing on practical training programmes at the internal and external levels and legal training in distinguished law firms, as well as some specialised departments in various government agencies, in addition to the establishment of a specialised hall (the Moot Court) to implement the requirements of the internship.
In its continuous endeavour to achieve its goal of building a qualified and competent legal generation, the Faculty of Law is also reviewing and developing study plans in line with legal developments, both locally and internationally, so that the faculty's graduates are familiar with the issues of their time and are keen to develop their legal capabilities in the future.
Despite its recent history, the Faculty of Law has contributed to several community service activities such as workshops, scientific conferences, and educational lectures. It seeks to enhance this dimension in its work for further contributions.
Deepening the ties between our students and faculty members who are distinguished by their expertise and leading scientific capabilities is one of the most important pillars of the success of our study plan; faculty members pay great attention to students and provide them with friendly and welcoming academic guidance.
Our ambition is for the Faculty of Law at the Arab Open University to emerge as a distinguished marker for the university's faculties in anticipation of greater horizons in the future. We will continue this path, with Allah's blessings and support.
Dr Hussain bin Saeed Al-Ghafri
Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Arab Open University
