The first professional development workshop, organized by FSU, took place on Thursday 3rd, November 2022. This academic gathering constitutes a great opportunity for tutors to share the knowledge with each other which results in effective teaching. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Uhood Al Shabibi. It was attended by 10 participants.
Ms. Uhood gave a presentation about how to use a new teaching method called dictogloss. This method aims at allowing students to reconstruct the target language after listening to a text, and correct each other's mistakes. It basically promotes self-learning.
The presenter also demonstrated some of her students' work using this method in which they had to reconstruct the text they listened to, and correct the mistakes afterwards.
A demo task was done towards the end of the presentation to show the participants how to use the method. A short Q&A session was also dedicated at the end of the session, in which the questions raised by the participants were addressed by the speaker.
All participants were given the QR code to enter their feedback online.
