Faculty of Education Studies

The Faculty of Education offers six academic programs at different levels, and each program aims at helping students acquire the competencies and skills of teaching according to the program level. The language of instruction and study is the Arabic language, except the Master program, in which the references are in both Arabic and English. These programs are:


1. Master of Education in Instructional Technology:
  • The program aims to prepare specialists in the field of instructional technology, by providing them with the knowledge and practical skills, and equipping them with the skills of scientific research in the field of information and communication technology. This program is accredited locally and globally, and the courses taught to students are both in Arabic and English.
  • The programme aims at preparing specialists in the field of instructional technology to activate the use of modern technology tools in the teaching learning process in accordance with the priorities and initiatives of e-learning in the schools and educational institutions in the Arab world. It also aims to enable graduates to run Learning Resources Centres and to work at companies and institutions concerned with the production of instructional software.
  • The program is accredited by the UK Accreditation Association and students are granted two certificates: one from Arab Open University, and the other from the Open University, UK.
  • The Programme is offered at the AOU-Jordan and AOU-Oman.
  • Total Credit Hours of the Programme: 36.

2. Master of Education in Educational Leadership:

  • The main objective of the Educational Leadership Programme is to prepare educators with an in depth analytical skills, knowledge and dispositions to identify and address educational challenges, and leading the educational system to transform, innovate and constantly learn. The teaching language of the programme is mainly Arabic although English is encouraged.
  • The Programme attracts school principals, teachers and students, who are highly concerned with developing and enhancing the educational system.
  • Graduates of the Programme are fit to work in leading key positions in the educational sector, the Ministry of Education, school leadership, planning, educational consulting, and research and development.
  • The Programme is offered at the AOU-Oman.
  • Total Credit Hours of the Programme: 36.


The Deanship looks forward to reaching for excellent level by its freshmen through the general courses that it offers in accordance with the accredited academic standards.


The Deanship is committed to provide students with the necessary skills in self-learning and develop their cultural and linguistic level in order to empower them to pursue their higher education successfully.


To achieve this mission, the goals of the deanship are as follows:

  1. Developing specialized staff in education by equipping our students with the knowledge and scientific and practical skills that are in accordance with modern, educational methods in the relevant fields
  2. Expanding academic programs on the undergraduate and graduate levels
  3. Valuing elements of creativity, intellectual that are parallel to modern developments
  4. Ensuring freedom, and professional growth for faculty and students
  5. Working hard to attract outstanding students.
  6. Contributing to the advancement of curriculum development and educational reform through continuous development and evaluation of programs offered, as well as conducting theoretical and applied research in this field.
  7. Developing the abilities and skills of the faculty and administrative members.
  8. Promoting the communication skills for students and helping them acquire critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  9. Adopting projects and partnerships with higher education and local community institutions.
  10. Incorporating teaching methods that use the latest technological innovations and teaching aids in the teaching-learning process.

General Objectives

  1. Providing students with the necessary knowledge and skills to continue with their specialized courses.
  2. Empowering students with general knowledge, which allows their professional and technical specializations to have additional knowledge-based and humanitarian dimensions, which enhance their level of awareness.
  3. Providing students with the cultural, developmental, and social dimensions of their Arab societies.
